FAQ

Questions we get asked.

Money

What does the trial cost?+

$100, charged at booking. If you keep the putter, that $100 comes off the price. If you don't, it covers the trial.

Is the card hold a charge?+

No. It's an authorisation hold for the full RRP, the same way a hotel or car-rental hold works. The hold reserves funds on your card but doesn't charge them. When the putter is returned, we release the hold and the funds free up. Most banks release in 1–5 business days.

What does it cost to swap?+

$30. Up to two swaps included per trial. The next putter ships before this one's collected, so you're never without one. Beyond two swaps, get in touch — we'll work it out.

Who pays the courier?+

NextPutter, on every leg. Send-out, swap, return — we cover all of it.

Are prices in NZD and GST inclusive?+

Yes. All prices on the site are NZD and include GST. The $100 trial fee covers GST. RRP is the GST-inclusive price you'd pay walking into the retailer.

The trial itself

How long is the trial?+

14 days from delivery. Day one is the day the putter arrives at your door — not the day you book.

Can I take it on course?+

Yes — that's the whole point. Take it to the practice green, take it to your weekend rounds, take it anywhere except a tournament or club competition (we ask you don't use a trial putter in a sanctioned comp).

What if it gets a scratch?+

Light wear from on-course use is expected. We don't claim against the card hold for normal use. Deliberate damage or unusual wear (drops on concrete, water immersion, modifications) is different and can be claimed against the hold.

Can I trial more than one putter at once?+

Not in the same booking. The model is one putter at a time — that's how you actually find out which one you prefer. If you want to A/B two models, do them back to back: the swap mechanic is built for exactly that.

Is the putter brand-new?+

It's a current-stock putter sourced from the relevant retail partner — fresh from the rack, not a beat-up demo. If you keep it, that's the unit you keep.

Choosing & shipping

Which brands do you carry?+

Eight at launch: Scotty Cameron, Ping, PXG, Cobra, Wilson Staff, TaylorMade, Odyssey/Callaway, and Mizuno. Year two adds L.A.B. Golf, Bettinardi, and Evnroll. Don't see what you want? Send us the model.

Why $450 RRP minimum?+

Below $450, the retailer's margin is too thin to make the model work for everyone. Above it, the economics fit and we can offer the same trial structure across the board.

Where do you ship?+

Anywhere in New Zealand. Standard tracked courier with signature on delivery. Most addresses see delivery in 1–3 working days; rural addresses can take an extra day.

Can I specify length, lie, or grip?+

Not in Year 1. Each demo unit ships in standard spec for that model. If a custom spec is critical for you, contact us before booking and we'll see what's possible with the partner.

If you keep it

How do I buy it?+

Log in, hit "Keep". The card hold converts to a charge for the balance (RRP minus the $100 trial fee). The putter's already in your bag — no second shipment.

Who handles warranty?+

The retail partner who fulfilled the sale handles warranty exactly as if you'd bought direct. NextPutter introduces you and steps out. The retailer's standard warranty applies.

Can I get a tax invoice / GST receipt?+

Yes — issued automatically on conversion, in the name of the retail partner who sold you the putter.
